Keren Hammerschlag is an affiliate researcher/lecturer with the Australian National University and the Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University. From 2013 to 2018 she was an assistant teaching professor and researcher in art history and women's and gender studies at Georgetown and assistant director of its Center for Jewish Civilization. Hammerschlag's research interests focus on Victorian and Edwardian art and visual culture, gender, race, and the body. Hammerschlag taught a fall 2017 class supported through the Berkley Center's Doyle Seminars project. She is the author of Frederic Leighton: Death, Mortality, Resurrection (2015). Before coming to Georgetown she was a Wellcome Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for the Humanities and Health at King's College London. Hammerschlag is the vice-president of the Historians of British Art Association. She holds an Honours degree from the University of New South Wales and Ph.D. from the University of London's Courtauld Institute of Art.
