The Doyle Engaging Difference Program was pleased to welcome Dr. Leila Brammer, the inaugural director and current director of outreach and instructional development for the Parrhesia Program for Public Discourse at the University of Chicago, as the Doyle Symposium keynote speaker. Her talk "Embracing Open Inquiry: Navigating the Landscapes of Classroom Discourse" marked the beginning of what promises to be a series full of insightful and inspiring discussions under the banner of a new area of focus for the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) at Georgetown University. Lunch was served.

At CNDLS, the commitment to fostering open inquiry and respectful dialogue has led to the introduction of the Productive Tensions: Dialogue, Inquiry, and Academic Expression in the Classroom initiative. This talk was part of a new initiative that seeks to explore the critical issues surrounding academic freedom and expression, including what it means to read complex and challenging material while creating respectful and constructive discussions in the classroom. Through these efforts, CNLDS strives to navigate the complexities of our times, embracing the challenging yet enriching terrain of academic discourse.

This event was a part of the Doyle Engaging Difference Program, which is jointly administered by the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs and the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) at Georgetown University.
