Brian Cody Wibowo
Profile
Brian Cody Wibowo (SFS’25) studies international economics at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Qatar. His studies have led him to explore the dynamics of development economics, especially in the context of the political economy and international development. Driven by a curiosity about the potential of education and resource-based strategies in poverty alleviation, Brian focuses his research on Southeast Asia, seeking to understand practical solutions rooted in local contexts. Hailing from Sumatera, Indonesia, he will be reflecting on his experience as an international student in Qatar as part of the fall 2023 Doyle Global Dialogue cohort. Brian has been involved with nonprofit initiatives, contributing to grassroots movements and occasionally consulting with local government officials. His efforts in community engagement were recognized by the Royal Society of Arts. On his travels, Brian is drawn to smaller communities and townships. There, amid the slower rhythms of life, he finds an escape from the hustle of city living. Immersed in these settings, he relishes learning about the community’s traditions and rhythms. And, if there’s a serene lake nearby, you’ll likely find him with a fishing rod in hand, relishing the tranquility.
