Marissa Fond is an applied sociolinguist and assistant teaching professor of linguistics at Georgetown University. Her main research interests include the management of knowledge, beliefs, and emotions in language and interaction; critical discourse analysis of metaphor and framing; and onomastics, focusing on personal first names in English. She teaches courses in introductory sociolinguistics; language, gender, and sexuality; discourse analysis methods; and metaphor and social issues. For fall 2021, Fond is teaching Language, Gender, and Sexuality (LING 343) as part of our Doyle Seminars program.
