Michael Bernstein

Michael Bernstein (SFS’24) was a junior in the School of Foreign Service majoring in international politics and concentrating in international security with a particular emphasis on counterterrorism. Additionally, he minored in government and was a candidate for the International Business Diplomacy Honors Certificate. Originally from New York, his frequent travels growing up inspired many of his academic endeavors today. On campus, he was involved in Georgetown Student Capital Partners, GU Politics, and Prison Outreach. He also interned for a fast-paced political campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives. For the fall 2022 semester, he studied in Geneva, Switzerland focusing on the role of second-generation Swiss Muslims in pushing back against recent discriminatory laws. He spoke to locals and experts alike to develop a nuanced perspective on the root causes of rising Islamophobia in Swiss society. When he’s not behind his laptop, he enjoys spending time with his two yellow labs and listening to true-crime podcasts. He was part of the 2022-2023 cohort of the Doyle Global Dialogue.
