Topics in Anti-Colonialism
Topics in Anti-Colonialism (PHIL 418) asked students to engage with global anti-colonial resistance movements. This engagement included researching primary source material from global anti-colonial resistance movements; reading anti-colonial, anti-imperial, and decolonial theory; and co-theorizing key threshold topics like oppression, resistance, resurgence, coalition, and solidarity. Upon completion of this course, students gained insight into the social, political, epistemological, and ethical philosophical underpinnings of global anti-colonial resistance and be able to make philosophical connections between historical and contemporary resistance movements. This course was taught by Shelbi Nahwilet Meissner as a Doyle Seminar in spring 2022. Please refer to the current course catalog for an up-to-date description of the course.
